This is the collaboration that made the chair, measured over its whole span rather than a sample of it. The record was recovered from the desktop application’s own cache and compiled on 19 August 2026; it reaches from the first prompt on 24 July to the keel that felt finished on 18 August. The numbers below are counted from that record. Where a total is a floor, because only the turns whose usage the cache kept could be summed, it says so.

THE TAPE The whole collaboration, measured: every recovered event from the first prompt to the keel that felt finished. 24 days, 24 Jul to 18 Aug 10 active working days 149 completed turns 297 human messages 14.9M output tokens (floor) $6.7k compute (floor) 10 chairs built THE LOAD, DAY BY DAY Each bar is a day with measured machine output, nine of the ten active days; its height is that day’s output. The dots mark days a build or prototype was photographed in the shop. 24 Jul 27 Jul 30 Jul 3 Aug 6 Aug 9 Aug 12 Aug 15 Aug 18 Aug 0.1M 2t 0.0M 1t 0.1M 4t 0.1M 5t 3.4M 32t 5.8M 32t 1.2M 35t 4.1M 35t 0.0M 3t shop machine output that day (bits) a build photographed that day (atoms) THE READING The bits were nearly free and the atoms were not. The machine produced on the order of fifteen million words of output across the run, at a compute cost of about $6,700, and both of those are floors: only the 149 turns whose usage the cache preserved could be summed, so the true totals run higher. The record had to be rebuilt from the desktop app’s own cache to be counted at all, which is the theme in one fact: the thinking was cheap enough to lose track of, while every one of the ten chairs is individually remembered. About $6,700 of bits and ten chairs of atoms, in twenty-four days, ten of them active. build_tape_full.py · compiled 19 Aug 2026 from session-54ae19f5-recovered-24Jul-18Aug (app-cache recovery) · totals are floors, model codenames internal hundredyearchair.com

A note on honesty, in keeping with the rest of the site: the dollar and token figures are floors, not exact totals; the internal model names in the record stay internal, and only the aggregate is published. The earlier version of this sheet compiled only the five-day core of 14 to 18 August. This one is the full run.
